On October 18th, Roscoe leasing agent Kurt Fulkerson was commissioned to build a soap box derby race car for Jackson Residence Hall at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. The car was designed, built, tested, and painted in one week. It was the first time Jackson Hall or Roscoe Properties has competed in the Annual Texas State University Soap Box Derby.
In the first three races, our vehicle sped past the competition with ease. In our final race, we were challenging the previous three year champion of Tower Residence Hall. As the vehicles left the starting ramp, they collided in spectacular crash that left the Tower car with a missing wheel and broken front axle. Our racer sped off to the finish line. It was the first time a wooden car had won 1st place in many years.
